Cardiff hosts many notable festivals each year, with celebrations attracting both locals and visitors.

Popular festivals in Cardiff include the following events.

Annual Cardiff Festivals


  • June and July: Cardiff Festival, held each year during the months of June and July, known for its open-air converts and entertainment for all ages
  • August: Midsummer Festival, taking place annual at the beginning of August, centred around the Angel Hotel, with large and colourful processions
  • August: National Eisteddfod of Wales, held during the first week, celebrating the country's rich and diverse culture
  • August: Brecon Jazz Festival, famous for being one of Europe's biggest jazz festivals in Europe, taking place in nearby Brecon, regularly attended by other 50,000 people
  • September: Abergavenny Food Festival, held in the town of Abergavenny, close to the city of Cardiff, one of the largest food festivals in the whole of Wales
  • November to January: Winter Wonderland, a seasonal winter event, where the main lawn outside Cardiff City Hall is turned into an ice rink, attracting large numbers of skaters and spectators
